Julie McElroy
I have been a writer since I began writing short stories and poems in middle school. Throughout the years, I have kept various journals to write down my thoughts and ideas. In today's world of technology, I have a several online blogs that contains more of my writing. I also started a freelance writing business to earn an income from writing.
My other passion is traveling. I lived in Japan for almost two years and backpacked in Europe for 10 weeks. In addition to spending extensive time in these two places, I have been on vacation and business trips all over the world. I have been to practically ever single state in the United States and three continents.
To combine the love for writing and travel, I became a travel writer. I am a member of the International Food, Wine, Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) where I find all kinds of resources and great connections as a travel writer. I also maintain my own travel blog, The Travel Beat, where you can catch glimpses of my travel adventures.
My backyard consists of gorgeous mountains for hiking and camping or skiing in the winter months. With my travel experiences and love for writing, the combination allows me to express myself and share with others. In Europe, I kept a travel blog and will continue to contribute my travel adventures on my blogs and in my articles on Suite 101.
While I have written on a variety of topics as a freelance writer, I mostly love to write about my travel adventures and look forward to sharing my articles.
